Corporate finance is the area of finance dealing with the sources of funding and the capital structure of corporations and the actions that managers take to increase the value of the firm to the shareholders, as well as the tools and analysis used to allocate financial resources. The primary goal of corporate finance is to maximise or increase shareholder value.
UK Investment Banking Series 2014
The application for UK Investment Banking Series 2014 is now open!
The UK Investment Banking Series (UIBS) is a national competition jointly organised by the Finance Societies at four top UK universities; Imperial College, London School of Economics, University College London and Warwick University. These Finance Societies have partnered with some of the world’s leading investment banks to bring you the UIBS.
The M&A Challenge consists on pitching a potential target Apple. Students at any level and from any discipline or university are welcome to participate in teams of 3 to 5 people. Every team will have to submit a pitch book before the deadline (10th of November). The top 8 pitch books will be selected for the final round which will take place in the Imperial College of London on Saturday the 22nd of November. Morgan Stanley employees will judge the presentations and vote for the winner.
The Trading Challenge aims to simulate the realistic interactions between Hedge Funds (HF) and investment Banks (IB). Comprising 20 teams of 3, participants are divided into 10 HF teams and 10 IB teams. Participants’ teamwork, negotiation and analytical skills will be crucial throughout this challenge that promises an exciting experience of an intense market-making environment. Students at any level and from any discipline or university are welcome to participate in teams of 3 people. The final will take place on the 23rd of November in the Imperial College of London.
